Kauffman House

Posted by Krape Family on 7:37 PM
We have walked by this historic house in Grand Lake all winter (they are only open in the summer) dying to see the inside. Well, on Friday, we got our wish.
The Kauffman House was the last of the solid log hotels built along the shore of GL in the 1880's. The family (Ezra, Belle and their three daughters) lived here as well are running the hotel. It is one of the oldest buildings still standing on its original site.

The outside of the house/hotel.

The parlor.
The guide showing the boys the view finder. She told the boys that this is how people use to watch "tv" and of course Tyson quickly replied, "but its not moving".

The only stove that would heat the whole house.
An old washing machine.
The Kauffman's sled for winter.
They were rather fashion forward...I love this dress!!!
This is a replica of the stove they used to service their guests. I can't believe how small it is.
One of the girl's bedroom. Tiny....all the big rooms were for the guests.
They had nine total bedrooms. Four for them and Five for guests.
